Status Match Charges
As of now, the status match charges are the same across regions. Additionally, Suppose one is eligible for two elite statuses; for example, in the case of the Singapore Krisflyer Gold Elite status, holders can match to Gold or Platinum and choose the elite status based on their preference from the two eligible statuses. Your charges will be dependent upon the elite status your status matches.

Validity of Elite Status
- The Elite status will be valid for 12 months.

Should you apply for a Vietnam Airlines Status Match?
Status matching with other airlines makes sense. However, there are situations where you can use Status Match effectively. Here is when applying for the Vietnam Airlines Status match makes sense.
- SkyTeam Elite Plus Status: Vietnam Airlines Platinum Elite status is equivalent to SkyTeam Elite Plus Status, whereas Gold & Titanium Elite status is equivalent to SkyTeam Elite. So, if you want to have an alliance-wide status, status matching is something you should look at.
- Lounge Access: Starting 1 April 2025, Elite Plus members will be able to access SkyTeam lounges on domestic itineraries at select lounges of Air France, China Eastern, Garuda Indonesia, Kenya Airways, KLM, SAS, Saudia, and Vietnam Airlines. Here is the list of lounges that will be available from 1 April 2025.

Bottomline
Vietnam Airlines status match is a decent promotion if you want to have a SkyTeam alliance elite status or you plan to travel extensively on Vietnam Airlines in the next year. If you plan to travel extensively on Vietnam Airlines, then Gold status is decent enough; however, for alliance-wide benefits, Platinum status is what you will need.
