Last year, HDFC added several transfer partners, including prominent hotel brands such as IHG, Accor, and Wyndham. However, Marriott was not added as a transfer partner even though Axis & Amex partnered with Marriott. So, there is no direct way to get Marriott Points from HDFC reward points. But you can still get Marriott Points from HDFC points. Here’s how.
HDFC to Marriott Via Singapore Krisflyer
Singapore Airlines is one of the oldest transfer partners of HDFC Bank. You can call it a legacy transfer partner. One of the great things about this partnership is that several HDFC credit card points can be transferred to Singapore Airlines. And, it is not just limited to Diners Black or Infinia.
Once you have Singapore Airlines Krisflyer miles by transferring HDFC Bank Points, you can transfer these miles to Marriott in a 2:1 ratio. So, if you have an Infinia or Diners Black credit card, you can get a 2:1 transfer ratio on HDFC Bank points when transferred to Marriott via Singapore Airlines.
However, a minimum of 3000 Krisflyer miles needs to be transferred, and a maximum of 1.8 Lac Krisflyer miles can be transferred to Marriott in a calendar year. That means that via this route, you can only get a maximum of 90000 Marriott Points from HDFC Bank Points.

Club ITC to Marriott
Last month, HDFC Bank added Club ITC as its partner. These ITC green points can also be transferred to Marriott in a 2:3 Ratio. However, a quarterly cap of 15K applies. So, in a year, you can get a maximum of 90K Marriott points by transferring 1.2 Lac points to ITC. Effectively, the indirect transfer ratio is 100:75, which is the best among all partners.

HDFC to Marriott Via United Mileage [United Airlines]
United Airlines was one of the new members added last year. Points of Infinia, DCB, and Regalia Gold can be transferred to the United Mileage account. If you are a United MileagePlus member, i.e., Silver Elite or higher Elite, you can transfer United miles in a 1:1 ratio to Marriott. A maximum of 1 Lac United Miles can be converted into Marriott Bonvoy Points. You can get 50K Marriott Points from HDFC Points via United Airlines.

So, Singapore Airlines & United Airlines can give a maximum 2:1 ratio on HDFC to Marriott Bonvoy Points.
Via Accor & JAL [Japan Airlines]
Accor is the transfer partner of both HDFC & Japan Airlines. Recently, HDFC devalued Accor for Infinia & Diners Black cardholders. Also, the Infinia, DCB, and Regalia Gold points can be transferred to Accor in a 2:1 ratio. Then, Accor Points can be transferred to Japan Airlines at a 2:1 ratio. Also, Japan Airlines JAL Mileage can be transferred to Marriott Bonvoy at 100:75 points. This effectively gives 188 points for 1000 HDFC points. It is not a recommended way to transfer to Marriott Bonvoy from HDFC. A Maximum of 50K JAL mileage can be transferred to Marriott.
Via Accor & Korean SkyPass
The transfer ratio from HDFC to Accor and the Korean Air Sky Pass account gives a 100:25 ratio. Then, Korean SkyPass points can be transferred to Marriott in a 2:1 ratio. A minimum of 5K miles needs to be transferred, and a maximum of 2 Lac points can be transferred in a year.
Should you get Marriott Bonvoy Points from HDFC Points?
Marriott has dynamic pricing for its properties. So, the points you need today may be less or more tomorrow. Therefore, planning is useful if you lack Marriott Points.
There are several ways to earn Marriott Points in India. And, if you have an HDFC Infinia, Diners Black or Diners Club Miles card, you can get Marriott Bonvoy Points at a 2:1 ratio from HDFC Points, which isn’t bad. Also, United Airlines elite can get the same ratio. Even though a 2:1 ratio isn’t bad, Singapore & United Airlines miles are valuable.
Marriott Elites, Platinum or above, may be able to get more value out of their Marriott points than the regular members as they get complimentary upgrades, breakfast & lounge access, etc. For regular members, topping up small amounts via airline partners can be a good move to save costs.
However, transferring huge HDFC points doesn’t make sense, as you can book Marriott hotels with these HDFC points better than the value you can get from Marriott unless you prefer to book directly.
Things to Know
HDFC Points to Marriott Bonvoy Points isn’t a direct process and will take time, considering the involvement of an additional partner. HDFC to Singapore or United can be instant or may take time, and then airlines to Marriott can take up to eight weeks. So, ahead is better.
Also, a prerequisite to transfer between partners is matching the names, so try a small lot before transferring huge points and getting stuck with it.
Bottomline
Getting Marriott Bonvoy Points from HDFC Points doesn’t work for everyone and is only limited to a handful of Marriott elites or HDFC Points hoarders. However, a 2:1 ratio in most cases isn’t bad for topping up short gaps between the points required and the points you need.
