Airline Shopping Portals are a great way to earn air miles for a particular airline. Major airlines worldwide have their own shopping portals. This makes a shopping portal one of the easiest ways to earn airmiles. It is simple to earn miles through these portals. I use these portals primarily for the airlines whose miles are valuable and can’t quickly be earned. Here is your guide to airline shopping portals.
How does an airline shopping portal work?
Suppose you want to shop on Adidas online. At the same time, you want to earn miles of, let’s say, American Airlines.
Then, go to its shopping portal, log in with Airline’s login credentials and choose Adidas. You will be redirected to the Adidas website, and any shopping from this website will earn you miles.
So, you not only earn credit card cashback or points but also earn airmiles with just one additional step.
And there is no limit on how many miles you can earn.
Which Airlines offer a shopping portal?

Which Airline Shopping Portal to use?
There is no definitive answer to it. There are two ways to make your choice.
- Topping of existing Miles, or
- Earning Miles of airlines, you can’t earn
For beginners, topping of miles is a better way to get closer to the redemption rate. However, more advanced would want to explore other programs too.
I prefer to use Alaska and American Airlines portals, as I consider these miles valuable. However, you should choose based on your intended use.
How many miles can you earn?
There is no limit to the number of miles you can earn. Every once in a while, the opportunity to earn bonus miles is also there. Mostly, a bonus of 500 miles is given on spending a certain amount.
Base miles are also increased for a short duration of time. So, you have lots of opportunities to earn miles via these airline portals.

Things to Know
Well, there is no rocket in using airline shopping portals. However, there are a few things you should know:
- Shopping Portals works based on cookies, so make sure those are enabled.
- Don’t try to open links from multiple websites simultaneously, as you may miss out on earning miles of preferred airlines.
- If you would often use these portals, consider getting the button.
- Are you not sure which portal will give you the maximum miles? Use the cashback monitor website to compare or register for top cashback if you prefer cashback.
- Using promo codes not available on shopping portals may make your purchase ineligible.
- Some partners don’t allow missing transactions; check that before making a transaction. One such partner is IHG. My transactions via Virgin Shopaway or Topcashback weren’t tracked.
- Contact the airline via the portal website if a transaction has not been tracked.
