Bonus Aeroplan Points on Transferring Marriott Bonvoy Points
The 15% Bonus Aeroplan Points only apply to transferring Marriott Bonvoy Points until 31st October 2024.
Basics
Marriott has many airline partners, and Marriott Bonvoy points can be transferred to these airlines in a 3:1 ratio. A bonus of 5K miles is triggered for every 60K points assigned in a single go for most airlines, barring a few.

Bonus Aeroplan Points Promotion
Now, Air Canada offers 15% Bonus Aeroplan points on the transfers of Marriott Bonvoy Points. However, the 15% bonus is only applicable to base Aeroplan points earned with a 60K transfer and does not include 5K Bonus points. The image below sums it up. For example, when transferring 60K points, you will get 20K base points plus 5K bonus points plus 3K bonus points with this offer for a total of 28K points.
Although the offer is for 15% bonus points, the bonus is 12% after adjusting for the 5K Bonus points you already earn.
Timelines
- The 15% Bonus Points offer is valid till 31st October 2024.
- Bonus Aeroplan points will be credited within 8–10 weeks after the end of the offer period.

Should you Transfer?
Marriott Bonvoy Points are among the easiest to earn in India and have a soft expiry of 24 months. Aeroplan Points can also be earned in India as it now has multiple credit card partners, such as Axis Bank and HDFC. It also has a fixed award chart, low fuel surcharges and many airline partners.
But, this promotion would have been great if 15% bonus points were instant rather than taking weeks. Plus, the actual bonus is just 12%.
This promotion works well for those who regularly use Aeroplan Points by transferring Marriott Bonvoy Points or plan to do so firmly later. Else, it doesn’t make sense to make a speculative transfer.

Bottomline
15% Bonus Aeroplan Points on transfer of Marriott Bonvoy Points is a decent offer. However, this may not be for everyone. There are ways to earn Aeroplan points in India, such as transferring credit card points, and it is also sometimes cheap to buy. So, a 15% Bonus won’t make most of us transfer Bonvoy points speculatively.
