Should you Transfer?
United Airlines offers dynamic award pricing and low fuel surcharges. Its mileage doesn’t expire, and there are zero cancellation charges on award cancellations.
However, it was recently devalued, increasing mileage across regions. This promotion could be a strong case for transferring Amex Points via Marriott, as you get more miles if you use this method to redeem Amex points. You can also transfer credit card points to United, such as from Axis Bank and HDFC.
Let’s take the example of Marriott.
A 240K Marriott Bonoy point transfer will give 144K United Miles, of which 80K are base miles, 40K Bonus miles, and 24K Bonus Miles from this promotion. These miles are sufficient for One-Way travel between Delhi and New York in United Polaris Business. And enough to book round-trip flights to the US in an economy cabin.
So, there are possible routes to use this promotion by transferring Marriott Bonvoy Points. Also, an excellent way to get more benefits out of United Miles is to use United Excursionist Perk.
If this isn’t for you, check out this 15% Bonus Aeroplan Points Promotion on transferring Marriott Bonvoy Points. This will give you fewer miles than this promotion but could be more beneficial than just travelling to the USA or Asia Pacific, plus better availability of partner flights.
Accor and Hyatt’s points are more valuable, so transferring any of them doesn’t make sense.
If you are looking for a transfer promotion on Indian credit cards, ITC is offering 10% Bonus Green Points on transfers.
Bottomline
30% Bonus United Miles on transferring Hotel Points, specifically Marriott Bonvoy Points, is a decent offer if you travel to the US on United Airlines Metal and use United Excursionist Perk to get more value. Otherwise, I would skip it.
