Buy Accor Plus to Extend ALL Elite Status

Accor has some paid membership programs. These paid memberships offer different benefits and cater to the varying needs of the members. One of these paid membership programs is “Accor Plus.” Although Accor Plus has many benefits, which I will cover in a separate post, there is a unique benefit of Accor Plus. This benefit is not a loophole but a written benefit: You can extend your elite status by buying an Accor Plus membership.

Regular ALL Elite Status Requirement

• The accor has four elite statuses, which can be attained either by staying a minimum number of nights or by earning a minimum number of status points. However, you need to earn status points to earn diamond Elite status.

What is the Validity of ALL Elite Status?

• The Accor ALL Elite status is valid for the year you attained that status and the following year.
• For example, if you attained Accor Gold Elite Status in August 2024, you will remain an Accor Gold Elite until the end of 2025.

How can ALL Elite Status be extended with Accor Plus?

Here are the official terms & conditions on how Accor Elite status works for Accor Plus members (refer to complete Accor Plus T&C here):

Clause 2.7 (d) Accor Plus members are assessed dif ferently f rom members of ALL –Accor Live Limitless, Accor’s global lifestyle loyalty programme, for Status tiers assessment. Accor Plus Status tier assessment is based on the following rules:
At the time of your Accor Plus membership renewal, the Status tier will be assessed based on the Eligible Status Nights or Status points earned during one of the two periods:

1. The current calendar year
2. The previous calendar year

The highest number of eligible nights stayed or Status points earnedduring one of these two periods, will determine your new Status.

Clause 2.7 (e) : If , during the previous calendar year or the current calendar year, you did not reach a threshold allowing maintenance of your current Status, you will have a Status corresponding to your activity during these two periods, as indicated in the terms and conditions of ALL – Accor Live Limitless, Accor’s global lifestyle loyalty programme defined at www.all.com.

Extending Accor Elite Status with Accor Plus Member

Buying Accor Plus to extend status will mostly work for Accor Gold and Platinum members. Silver members can also buy Accor Plus to retain Silver, but it is not recommended to buy solely for Silver Status.

Accor Gold

• Let me explain with an example: you were an Accor Gold member in 2023 as you had 30 elite night credits in 2023; however, during 2024, you could only stay 5 nights. So, you would lose Accor Gold status in 2025.
• So, to retain your gold in 2025, you must stay another 25 nights by 31st December 2024. However, you don’t have to do it.
• If you buy Accor Plus in December 2024, your elite status will not be determined based on the number of elite night credits in 2024 but higher in 2023 or 2024 since you had an elite night credit of 30 nights in 2023, sufficient for Accor Gold. You will retain Accor Gold until the end of 2025, with Accor Plus purchased in December 2024.

Accor Platinum

• It also works if you reach Accor Platinum status based on a minimum number of elite nights. An Accor Platinum member needs to stay 60 nights in a year.
• Say you attained Accor platinum status in 2023 with an elite night credit of 60 nights, and you could only stay less than 39 nights in 2024; you think you will lose Platinum status and be an Accor gold member.
• However, if you buy an Accor Plus membership in December 2024, you will retain Platinum status till the end of 2025 since your Elite status will depend on elite nights higher in 2023 or 2024.

Does buying an Accor Plus membership extend Accor Elite Status?

• Buying an Accor Plus membership, specifically to extend status, is beneficial if your current year’s elite status is less than last year’s based on the number of nights. For example, if you were Platinum the previous year (2023) and did not meet the requirement in the current year (2024). By buying Accor Plus, you retain Platinum until the end of next year (2025).
• Here is my case. Last year, I had a total elite night credit of 30; this year, I could only stay 9 nights (credited some to IHG & Marriott) and decided to buy Accor Plus. Since my number of night credits was higher last year (2023) and enough for Accor Gold, with the help of Accor Plus, my Elite status has been extended till December 2025. Please note that I only bought Accor Plus this month (December).

Helpful Tip: If you need 5 nights or less elite night to retain the status for , go for the “Accor Elite Card Happy Edition,” available in China, which only costs ￥388 (INR 4.5K). However, it can be a task to buy. (You may refer to this thread if you need any help.) You can also get Accor Gold by buying AccorHotels Premium Plus, but it will cost INR 31K. However, Elite Night from this program will primarily be credited the next day.

When Accor Plus will not work for extending Elite Status?

• Buying Accor Plus will not extend Diamond Elite Status as this status depends on status points and not the number of night stays. So, you can only extend Silver, Gold & Platinum Elite Status.
• Extending elite status using Accor Plus depends upon the elite night. If you attained ALL elite status with status points instead of elite nights, Accor Plus will not extend the Elite status.
• Buying Accor Plus to extend status doesn’t make sense if you did not have any elite status in the current year & previous year. (Obviously)
• If you have already completed the minimum number of elite nights needed to retain the status in the current year, you will keep the status until the end of next year.
• Accor Plus is valid for 12 months. Any status retained with the help of Accor Plus will only be valid till the end of the Accor Plus membership month. For Example, suppose you bought Accor Plus in November 2024. Your will status will be valid until November 2025 unless you retain that tier with minimum elite night Credit in the Accor Plus expiry year.
• If you buy Accor Plus, let’s say, in January 2025, your Accor status will be decided based on the elite night credit for 2024 and 2025. Let’s say 2024 is your ALL elite status expiry year, and you did not meet the Gold Elite Status Requirement requirement in 2024. You will be Accor Silver until the end of Accor Plus membership. Buying Accor Plus in January specifically to extend the status will not work.

When is the best time to buy Accor Plus to extend Elite Status?

• Buying any membership at the beginning of the year is usually best, as you can enjoy it for a whole year.
• However, buying Accor Plus in December is better for extending status. But if you did not have any elite status in the current year or previous year, buying Accor Plus in January can be helpful as you could reach Elite status faster, coupled with other night stays.

Which Accor Plus membership to buy to extend Accor Elite Status?

There are several Accor memberships; however, only Accor Plus membership can help extend status. As I checked other programs, the one in China (had to take help from ChatGPT), Brazil, and for business travellers, there was no mention of an elite status benefit like one in Accor Plus.

There are two Accor Plus memberships:

• Traveller:
  • Regular Pricing is INR 11800 (There are discount offers regularly)
  • No Stay Plus Benefit.
• Explorer:
  • Regular Pricing is INR 16520 or 12K Accor Points (There are discount offers regularly)
  • 1 Stay Plus complimentary night (Not counted towards Elite Status Unless you have some room charges)
  • Dining & Accommodation Vouchers (May need some communication with Accor Plus)

Warning: 20 Elite Nights available as part of Accor Plus are credited the next day. So, if you buy Accor Plus on December 31st, 2024, your elite night will be credited on January 1st, 2025.

Bottomline

Members can extend ALL Elite Status. It is not cheap, though. An Accor Plus Explorer membership could be worth it, considering one stay plus a night, though restrictions apply. The Traveller membership for INR 12K odd is not worth it. Sometime back, Traveller membership was available at a discount. So, consider this option if you want to extend your ALL Elite status.
