However, this offer reduces the cost to 1.88¢ per mile. You can purchase a maximum of 200,000 miles in a year, and any bonus on purchases is also included in the 200,000-mile limit. However, you can only buy miles if you have not already reached the 200K limit. This 200K limit resets on January 1, 2026.

If you are not interested in purchasing these miles, you can always transfer Axis & HDFC bank points to United. Marriott is the option for Amex cardholders. As with preferred partnerships, you receive 10,000 bonus miles for a 60,000-point transfer, effectively creating a 2:1 transfer ratio.
Bottomline
Buying United Miles can be helpful if you’re short of the required miles. However, opportunities to earn these miles exist in India. So, a top-up of miles could make sense for some. United’s main advantage is the low fuel surcharge. However, I would surely check the Avianca Lifemiles or Aeroplan points offer, as they have a fixed award chart and better miles requirements on some routes.
