Virgin Atlantic has launched a bonus points offer on buying Virgin Points. It might not have made much sense to buy Virgin Points earlier, given its limited connectivity and fewer Airline Partners. However, many opportunities to use Virgin Points have arisen after joining the SkyTeam Alliance. And, it moved to dynamic pricing last year, but there are still deals to be found for both Virgin Atlantic & its Partner Airlines.
Buy Virgin Points with 70% Bonus Points Offer
From now on until 31 December 2025, you can get 20% to 70% bonus points when you buy Virgin Points. However, you need to buy at least 5K Virgin points to be eligible for the promotion. Best part, the limit has been increased to 300K points for this promotion, and these points never expire.

How much does it cost to buy Virgin Points?
Buying virgin points costs £15 for every 1000 points. But you must also shell out another £15 for every points purchase transaction. That means your cost per point decreases as you buy more points. And with bonus points, your cost will be further reduced. So, if you buy more points, you pay less, as is evident from the table below:
| Virgin Points Purchased | Bonus Promo | Virgin Points Received | Total Cost (GBP) | Total Cost (USD) | ¢/Point | p/Point |
| 4000 | 0% | 3000 | 60 | 97 | 3.05 | 2.00 |

When buying Virgin Atlantic points, your country determines your payment currency. If you live in the USA, you pay in USD; if you live in the UK or other countries such as India, you pay in pounds sterling. It is cheaper to buy in Pounds Sterling, as the cost per Virgin point is 0.89p per point at 300K points. The price per point for US residents is 1.47¢.
Also, you may pay more or less based on your date of purchase. On some days, Indian Currency may be appreciated or depreciated against the pound sterling.
Things to Know Before You Buy
Buying Virgin Points may sound tempting, but here are a few things you should be aware of before buying:
- You won’t be able to buy points if your points balance is zero:
- Do so by transferring a minimum number of points from Amex or other cards.
- If you haven’t used your purchased Virgin Points, which aren’t even part of it, you can cancel your purchase and get a refund within 14 days of purchase.
- Use a Card with the lowest Forex-Markup or a card with good forex rewards to reduce the cost of buying.
- Make sure you have a firm plan for using Virgin Points.
- Virgin Atlantic charges high carrier-imposed charges on reward seats.
- Virgin Atlantic made changes on 30 October 2024 and moved to dynamic pricing, so you need to be flexible when using Virgin Atlantic points. You can also use these points to book partner airlines.
Should you buy Virgin Atlantic Points?
Virgin Atlantic made changes to its frequent flyer program last month. One of the most significant changes was that Virgin Atlantic moved to Dynamic Pricing. There are both good and bad aspects of such a change. But buying Virgin Atlantic Points still makes sense; here is why.
- It makes sense to top up if you don’t have enough Virgin Atlantic points.
- You can travel from India to London (One-way) in Virgin Atlantic Upper Class for just 23K points. However, you will still save on surcharges and taxes, ranging from £150 to £400.
- Another good deal would be to find Boston/Washington/New York to London in Virgin Atlantic Upper Class for 29K Points; from the West Coast USA, you will probably pay more than 41K points.
- Virgin Atlantic also has many airline partners, with ANA among the most prominent. Booking SkyTeam airlines using Virgin Atlantic Points is also a good deal.
- I highly recommend you use Seats.Aero [How to use a guide?] or AwardTool [How to use Guide] [use code PointsMath to get 20% off] if you want to find availability on Virgin Atlantic with ease.

Bottomline
Buy Virgin Points with a 70% bonus points offer, which is decent. However, ensure you have a firm plan and are ready to bear the substantial Carrier-Imposed charges on Virgin Atlantic flights. If you plan to use it for SkyTeam or other partner airlines, check your flight costs with reward seat availability and cost.
