Cathay Pacific had a moderate fuel surcharge on award flights. However, they are almost doubling these fuel surcharges starting 18 March 2026 due to the situation in the Middle East. You still have time till 17 March 2026 to book award flights at a lower fuel surcharge.
New Cathay Pacific Fuel Surcharge
If you book any award ticket on or after 18 March 2026 using Asia miles, you will pay almost double the fuel surcharge.

The fuel surcharge is applied on a segment basis. So, if you are travelling via Hong Kong from India to the USA, you pay a surcharge for the India-to-Hong Kong route and then for the Hong Kong-to-USA route.

You have until 17 March 2026 to book award flights until 12 March 2027. Also, Cathay Pacific is running a rebate promotion that lets you save up to 15% in miles when you book by 22 March on select routes. Booking by 17 March, you also save on the Fuel Surcharge.
