Very few Hotel chains like Hyatt and Wyndham follow “Fixed Points” redemption for night awards. Hotel chains like Marriott and IHG have moved to Dynamic Points Pricing for a night award. This dynamic pricing takes a lot of effort to find a perfect points redemption rate. But few hotel chains have tools to help you find it. For Example, Marriott has one of the best tools to find Marriott Hotel Best Points Redemption rates. But Hyatt is not far behind. However, Hyatt has “Fixed Points” redemption for free nights. An opportunity exists to find Hyatt’s best points redemption rate to save on your Hyatt Points. So, here is your guide to finding Hyatt’s Best Points Redemption Rate.
Checklist to Find Hyatt’s Best Points Redemption Rate
You must keep handy the below details before we move to a guide to finding Hyatt’s best points.
- Your Favorite Hotel Name
- Favorite Hotel Hyatt Category (Check Below How to Find it)
- Your Favorite Travel Month
- Number of Hyatt Points
Peak, Standard & Off-Peak award night point requirement structure
Although Hyatt has a fixed point required for an award night, these fixed points change with a fixed number of daily increase or decrease in points based on demand at a particular hotel.
For Example, on most days, a hotel room will be marked as “Standard” for the points redemption requirement. But, if the demand at the hotel increases, it is to be moved to the “Peak Points Structure”, and if demand is low, then to the “Off-Peak Points Structure”.
Hyatt Hotel Categories
Also, a Hotel Category has an impact on the points required for a night award, as the higher, the category of a hotel higher will be the points requirement.
Hyatt Classifies its 1200+ hotels into eight categories. There are multiple factors based on which a hotel category is decided. Hyatt also has All-Inclusive Resorts, which have a separate category.
How to find Hyatt Hotel Category?
There are three ways to find the Hyatt hotel category. Of these, one works on a desktop and two on Hyatt Mobile App.
For Desktop, you can filter any Hyatt hotel worldwide based on their category here.
On mobile, it is relatively easy to find Hyatt hotel categories.
A comprehensive way of finding the Hyatt Hotel Category is using the Hyatt App on your mobile. On the app’s homepage, you choose “Explore Hotels & Resorts” and then the region you’re interested in. After that, the country you are planning to visit. Once done, you will see the complete list of Hyatt Hotels in that country with the Hotel Category.
Another way to look at the Hyatt Hotel Category is by searching for Hyatt Hotel or the destination city. Then the list will have Hotel Name and its Hyatt Category.
Based on Hyatt Hotel Category, how many points do you need for a night award?
A Hyatt Points redemption rate is based on “Peak/Off-Peak” demand, Hyatt Hotel Category and Hyatt Room Type.
For a standard room, you need at least 3500 Hyatt Points at Hyatt Hotel Category 1. And a minimum of 35,000 Hyatt Points at Hyatt Hotel Category 8 for a Standard room.
Here is the complete points requirement for a Standard Room at Hyatt:
How to Find Hyatt’s Best Points Redemption Rate?
To find Hyatt’s Best Points Redemption rate, search for your destination or hotel on Hyatt Website.
Like this:
You can choose any date or select the “use points” option. But it doesn’t impact finding Hyatt Best Points redemption rate.
As you click “Find Hotels”, the search results will pop up. If you have input your destination, you need to off the map option and click on view rates. Then you will have a search result like the below image (if you search based on hotel, then you will also have the below search result):
In the above image or your search result, you will see “Points Calendar”. You must click on that to find the best Hyatt points redemption rate. Once you click, a new window will open with the Hyatt points rate for the standard room for the entire month. This is how it will look:
Now, you can explore the entire month to find the Hyatt Best Points Redemption Rate. You can even filter the months for the next 13 months. And even the Room Type.
Our search of Alila Diwa Goa Hotel found that March Month points redemption rate is 9500 for a standard room. But as you move to next month, the rate drops to 8000 points which are points for standard season/demand. And, as you move to May, you can get the same room for 6500 points. These rates will not stay the same and can change daily, so booking early will help if your plan is firm.
I additionally found that the “Off-Peak” day remains the same even if you choose Standard Room or Suite Room. That means demand is based on the number of rooms but not based on the number of rooms in a particular category.
With the above trick, you can find Hyatt’s best points redemption rates within the same month, saving you valuable Hyatt Points as I value one Hyatt points at INR 1.80. Also, you can use the above trick for Hyatt All-Inclusive Resorts.
Pro Tip: Book a Paid Stay and Upgrade with Points
You can also upgrade your room to a Club Room, Standard Suite or Premium Suite. But you must pay for the room which needs to be upgraded. There’s only one issue here. As upgrading with points doesn’t work online, you have to call “Hyatt” to upgrade your room mandatorily. This is necessary because the upgrade of the room depends on the Hotel type. If a hotel is a resort, you must pay the minimum for a deluxe room. Whereas for a Hotel that is not a resort, you must have paid a minimum for a standard room. According to Hyatt, a Hyatt Hotel may or may not be mentioned as a resort online.
So, it’s better to call Hyatt for the complete process rather than making the booking half online, and the rest upgrade through the phone. But, it can be a great deal as you can upgrade to a suite room with just 6000 Hyatt Points.
Based on the analysis of Hyatt Hotels Categories and Points required for room type, an Upgrade will increase the value of points from hotel category two or above. Hyatt Hotel Category 1 requires only 5500 points for a Club Room, Standard Suite 6500 Points and Premium Suite 7000 Points, Which are closer to the upgrade award points, taking away some value of points.
Bottomline
Although Hyatt has a fixed points redemption rate, opportunities exist to find a better rate. You can save points by using the trick to find Hyatt’s Best Points Redemption Rate. As every point of Hyatt is more valuable than any other Hotel Points, with Accor coming close to second, it is better to find your best points rate.
