Japan Airlines JAL Mileage Bank comes up with discounted award flight promotions once in a while. Now they have come up with another award flight discount promotion, which lets you save 30% on award flights. However, route and cabin-specific restrictions apply.
Current JAL Award Flight Discounts Promotion
Japan Airlines is running a JAL International award flight discount promotion at select destinations in Hawaii, Southeast Asia & Oceania, with the following cities and mileage, available to book between 7 January and 16 January 2026.

- South East Asia: 1 April to 30 September 2026
- Australia:
- Departure from Japan: 1 June to 10 July 2026
- From Sydney/Melbourne: 1 June to 18 June 2026, and 13 July to 31 July 2026

How to search for Japan Airlines Award Flights?
There are two ways to find Japan Airlines award flights. You can either use the Japan Airlines Award calendar or seats aero.
Japan Airlines Award Calendar
To find an award flight using Japan Airlines’ award calendar, follow the steps below, or refer to this page on Japan Airlines.
You need to log in to the JAL Mileage account and then use the redeem your miles option and JAL Award Tickets
After that, use the “International Award Tickets Seat Availability Check Calendar”:
Thereafter, choose your travel details and cabin class, and click search.
After the search, you will see the minimum mileage. If it matches the mileage in the promotion, you have found the discounted award flight. Just use the Availability by date option to check which dates this discounted award flight is available.

For example, I was able to find discounted award flights for 12, 13 & 14 April on Seats Aero, bookable with other programs, and also on the Japan Airlines website.
Things to Know
Here are the things you need to know before you book:
- Most Important: The Account should be 60 days old to search and book an award flight. Discounted award flights are limited.
- Promotion is valid for bookings made until 16 January 2026.
- Select routes & cabins are eligible.
- Internal transfer at Tokyo can be from different airports.
- The travel period varies by city in Southeast Asia; it should be between 1 April and 30 September 2026.
- For Australia (Sydney & Melbourne), dates are June & July.
- Taxes can be high even on economy award flights.
- Regular cancellation fees usually apply JPY3,100
- Partial cancellations are not permitted.
- After departure cancellation, no refund is allowed.
- Stopovers at one city are not permitted more than once, so you cannot do Delhi-Tokyo-Manila-Tokyo-Delhi.
Bottomline
Japan Airlines JAL Mileage Bank’s discounted award flight promotion is a decent promotion if you already have a JAL Mileage account and travel plan. However, taxes can be higher, and for some, finding an award flight can be tricky.
