Points Earning: Axis Bank Excluded Spending Categories

Axis Bank recently made several changes to its credit card. Apart from an important change in the grouping of transfer partners, there were changes in spending categories. New spending categories have been added where you won’t earn any Axis Bank Edge Rewards or Edge Miles. Here are Axis Bank’s Excluded Spending Categories; some are applicable from 20th March 2024.

Standard Exclusion: No Earning of Axis Rewards

Following is the standard exclusion on Axis Bank Credit Cards on which you will not earn any Edge Rewards or Edge Miles:

• Educational Services
• Fuel
• Gold/Jewellery
• Government Services
• Insurance
• Rent
• Utilities
• Wallet

The above are standard exclusions; however, a few credit cards give reward points on some of this spending, which we will cover later.

Earning Rewards on Educational Services Spending

Most of the Axis Bank credit cards don’t give any reward benefit on educational services; however, if you have the following credit cards, then you can earn reward points:

• Axis Bank ATLAS Credit Card
• Axis Bank MAGNUS Credit Card
• Axis Bank Vistara Credit Card [All Variants]
• Axis Bank Reserve Credit Card
• Miles & More Axis Bank Co-Brand Credit Cards

Earning Rewards on Rent Spending

Usually, you do not earn reward points on rent spending. However, there are two exceptions and you can earn reward points on below cards with a cap:

• Axis Magnus Credit Card: Up to INR 50K in a month
• Axis Reserve Credit Card: Upto INR 100K in a month

Earning Cashback on Utilities

You can use Axis Bank Ace and Axis Bank Airtel Credit Card to earn utility cashback. However, the cashback is only eligible if you made payments on Gpay using Axis Bank Ace and the Airtel Thanks App using Axis Bank Airtel Credit Card.

There are several Axis Bank Excluded Spending Categories in which you will not earn reward points, edge miles, or cashback. However, spending on educational services is an exception for some credit cards.
