Cathay Pacific has launched several promotions over the last few months, including bonus-point transfers, rewards in the air, and an award-flight miles redemption promotion. Now it is back with another award flight promotion. Cathay Pacific is offering a 30% rebate when booking an award flight on select routes.

I think this is an excellent promotion for those who want to travel to China & other Asian countries and have a sizeable chunk of Asia Miles. With the rewards in the air promotion, you also get to earn more Asia Miles and miles through rebates.

Who is it for?

If you already have Asia Miles in your account and were planning to do something similar, then this is a good promotion for you. I think if you want to go out of your way, it only makes sense if you have plans to travel to China and other eligible Asian destinations for 30% back in miles. At the same time, I mostly find Avios a better miles currency for booking Cathay Pacific award flights for relatively fewer miles. But Cathay Pacific may limit the release of premium cabin inventory to its partners.
