Club Vistara is India’s best frequent flyer program from Vistara. There are several opportunities to earn a lot of Club Vistara Points, including Vistara Co-Branded Credit Cards. These points can then be redeemed for your next travel experience. There are several domestic options to choose from. Although Vistara travels to a few International destinations, there are opportunities to make the most of your CV Points. With India’s best Premium Economy Cabin Class and a great business class, Club Vistara members have multiple options. So, here are the best ways to redeem Club Vistara Points.
Vistara Has a Fixed Award Chart
Unlike a few International Airlines, Vistara has a fixed award chart. Usually, the Fixed Award Chart are behind the sweet spots that arise. Since Vistara also has a fixed award chart, there are multiple best ways to redeem your Club Vistara Points. No updated award chart is available online, but you can use the “Award Calculator” to find how many points you need to travel between two destinations.
Earlier in 2019, Vistara was experimenting with dynamic award pricing, but it is yet to be launched. Once dynamic pricing kicks in, the possibility of losing sweet spots will be high.
You can check their flight schedule here if you’re unsure if Vistara flies to your favourite destination.
How many points do you need for connecting flights?
Vistara considers connecting flights as a separate segment. That means your club vistara points will be calculated for two destinations separately.
For Example, travelling from Delhi to Goa, you usually need 6000 in economy class. But if you have a connecting flight from Mumbai, you need to redeem 9000 CV Points with 5000 points for the Delhi to Mumbai segment and 4000 CV Points for the Mumbai to Goa Segment.
While researching, I found that the Award Calculator doesn’t work in a few cases of Connecting flights. For Example, from Mumbai to Jammu, it shows 5000 CV Points for an economy award, but it shows 9000 CV Points while booking. So, you check the number of CV points for connecting flights by logging into your Club Vistara Account.
Change or Cancellation Charges on Reward Seats
I like Vistara’s policy for cancellation or change fees in CV Points. So, you don’t have to pay money. Instead, your CV Points are used. The CV Points for change and cancellation are reasonable and can save money if your plan is not fixed.
Charges For (Before Departure) | Vistara | Partner Airlines |
Changes 7 Days | 10% | 15% |
Changes 48 Hour | 10% | 50% |
Cancellations 7 Days | 15% | 25% |
Cancellations 3 Days | 15% | 50% |
Cancellations 48 Hour | 25% | 50% |
Cancellations 2 Hour | 25% | 100% |
No Show | 100% | 100% |
The charges are steep for partner airlines and reasonable for Vistara Flights. So, while using CV points for international partner airlines, you need to be sure of plans so that any changes don’t consume your CV Points. Plan for at least seven days to reduce cancellation charges.
Should you use CV Points for Vistara Airline Partners?
Vistara has five airline partners. You need to use a minimum of 30000 Club Vistara points to book an economy class for travel from India to Southeast Asia (Singapore). At the same time, you need 22000 club vistara points for travelling between India and Singapore. So, there is no level playing field. Also, the disadvantage here is Vistara’s low number of airline partners since these airlines will first fly to your primary hub and then connect you further. Thus increasing the total number of CV Points required for partner airlines.
Update: Vistara is running a Vistara Partner Award Offer, which allows you to get a 50% discount on partner awards.
So, Club Vistara points should not be used for partner airlines until necessary or you don’t have other options.
To maximise the value of your Club, Vistara Points should be used for Vistara flights, mainly on economy or premium economy.

1. Delhi To Port Blair in 7500 CV Points
Port Blair is a paradise and is touted to have India’s best beach. There are direct flights from Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad. But it is too far from Delhi. Usually, rates to or from Port Blair are too high.
The cost of a round-trip flight from Delhi can be around INR 30K, which I found using Google Flights. But you can redeem your Club Vistara Points instead of paying the money.
You need 15000 Club Vistara Points to book your round-trip flight from Delhi to Port Blair. That can potentially increase the value of your Club Vistara Points to anywhere between INR 1.5 and INR 2. For Premium Economy, you must redeem 27000 Club Vistara Points, which is still reasonable for the Ticket cost. Even the business class at 56000 is decent. This route has one of India’s best Club Vistara values per point.
Cabin Class | Club Vistara Points |
Economy | 7,500 |
Premium Economy | 13,500 |

15. Delhi/Mumbai To Frankfurt in 30000 CV Points
Frankfurt will probably be one of the few destinations connected by Star Alliance Airlines from Delhi. Only three airlines directly connect to Frankfurt from Delhi: Air India, Vistara & Lufthansa.
Flight cost on this route usually starts from INR 30K. The points requirement on this route also ranges from 25K air miles to 33K air miles. Club Vistara Points start at 30K for economy class and 55K for premium economy. So, this would probably be a route where you can use your CV Points for economy-class tickets without thinking a lot.
Cabin Class | Club Vistara Points |
Economy | 30,000 |
Premium Economy | 55,000 |
Business Class | 1,20,000 |
16. Delhi/Mumbai To London in 30000 CV Points
You can also travel to London from Delhi & Mumbai on Vistara. Delhi to London or London to Delhi will probably be one of the few routes where three airlines offer premium economy cabins. These two routes are one of the few routes where members of all three alliances fly. Four airlines have direct flights between these cities: Air India, British Airways, Vistara & Virgin Atlantic. So, you can find the reasonable value of your credit card points on this route. Flight costs on this route start from INR 38K and can reach a high of INR 70K for economy-class tickets. So, with Airlines from all three alliances and similar cabin class type offerings, there’s always value for travellers.
I’ll keep British Airways out of here due to their high surcharges. Virgin Atlantic has above standard surcharges, but you can travel with 20000 Amex Points converted to 10K Virgin Points with a surcharge of INR 8K. During Promotions, you could do that in 8000 Virgin Points. However, flights from the UK will have UK Air Passenger Duty. At the same time, you can travel with 30K Club Vistara and low charges. Most will prefer it since the conversion of amex points is 2:1, and you can transfer from HDFC or Axis at a better rate to Vistara.
Cabin Class | Club Vistara Points |
Economy | 30,000 |
Premium Economy | 55,000 |

18. Delhi to Bali in 22000 CV Points
Bali is beautiful. It has a great vibe and is a must-visit place. There were no direct flights earlier, but Vistara launched direct flights between Delhi & Bali last year. The average price for a return flight is between 40K and 44K on Vistara. There are cheaper options with connecting flights from Vietnam & Malaysia.
If you have Vistara points, you can travel to Bali in 22K points for one-way flights and 44K for return flights. This is a good redemption point; however, premium economy and business class are expensive. Since this is a long route, you should check out Vistara Airline Partners for premium seat redemption.
Cabin Class | Club Vistara Points |
Economy | 22,000 |
Premium Economy | 40,000 |
Business Class | 75,000 |
Why should you not use CV Points for Vistara Business Class?
Usually, as the cabin class increases, the value of air miles increases. You may get a value of INR 2 from 1 air mile on a Business Class ticket. But on Vistara, you will probably not. On International Flights, Vistara has 3x to 4x requirements of CV Points for Business Class as against Economy Class. Usually, airlines charge 2x air miles for business class tickets as opposed to the economy class points requirement. So, as we move to a higher cabin class, the value of CV Points doesn’t increase significantly. Since the points requirement is significant, transferring points for business class tickets doesn’t make sense until you get at least a good bonus on the transfer.
In the case of premium economy, it is hit & miss. That means there are good options where you can use CV Points for Premium Economy Tickets. So, it would be best to work out maths while redeeming your premium economy & business class CV points.
Upgrade Awards
Vistara keeps it simple. For upgrade awards, you must pay the difference between the required CV Points for usual rewards. For Example, If you bought a ticket for INR 8K in economy class and it usually costs 10K CV Points in the economy and 17K in Premium Economy, you must redeem 7000 Club Vistara Points to upgrade to premium economy. So, you must ensure you have done the maths before entering this hybrid model.
Bottomline
There are more than 14 best ways to redeem Club Vistara Points. You can get good value for CV Points on both Domestic & International flights. However, most of these are for Economy Class. I find Premium Economy & Business Class CV Points higher than International Airlines. Overall, redeeming Club Vistara for an economy class gives reasonable value, whereas for Premium Economy, it is average, and for Business Class, it’s below average.
